When joining a model agency there are always many questions that come to mind when getting the first booking from your agent.
Over the next few weeks we will be exploring the common questions in depth. If you have a burning question make sure you leave a comment and we will try to write an article answering it in detail.
Probably the most frequent question I have heard over the years from new parents when giving them details for a casting is “How many other kids will be there?”
There might be two, ten or fifty. The real answer is it doesn’t matter. When a job brief comes in we scour our database looking for suitable candidates. This can be based on look, size, personality or previous experience. Once we have a list of suggestions ready, we will email the model cards over to our clients.
Our bookers will follow up the email with a call to discuss the candidates with our client. This is the first selection process. More often than not we will then get the booking details, sometimes our client will need to ‘ok’ the candidates with their client and we will be asked to check the kids availability.
If we are checking availability with you, chances are that your child is already in the second selection process and closer to that job booking.
The main thing to remember is the casting director or photographer wants you to SUCCEED! They have already whittled down the suggestions from several other agencies and are now ready to show their client the cream of the crop. You may not know it but your child has already come very far.
When the audition day comes, focus on enjoying the casting and do not be worried about how many other children are there. If your child is what our client is looking for it doesn’t matter if there are one hundred others there, Your child will get booked!
